Biographies
William Ip Maurice Lin Sally To Gallup Lee Martin Turner Kitty Chan
William Ip is the founder and managing director of Red Edge Communications, an integrated and one-stop communication services provider. With expertise gained through over 25 years of experience in journalism and public relations, Ip has successfully managed the execution of copywriting, translation, public relations and publication projects for the company, including translation of the Policy Address for Mr Edmund Ho, the Chief Executive of Macao SAR for six consecutive years from 2002-2007; translation of the English edition of Macao Yearbook for six consecutive years from 2002-2007; a comprehensive publicity and promotion campaign for a new academic institute including corporate identity and emblem development, uniform design, website development, printed advertisements and collaterals; and publication projects for various corporations and organisations including editorial planning, interviews, copywriting, translation, creative design and layout, artwork and printing. Before establishing Red Edge, Ip was a group director for Hill and Knowlton Asia Limited, a leading international public relations consultancy. As head of the agency's editorial department, he served a wide range of clients from various industries, such as Avery Dennison, British Telecom, Caltex, Loctite, McDonald's Corporation, Microsoft, Motorola and Patek Philippe. Ip holds a Master of Arts degree in Computer-aided Translation and a Bachelor of Social Science degree in journalism from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, an advanced diploma in simultaneous interpretation from HKU SPACE and a certificate in court interpreting from Vancouver Community College. Ip also teach for the Translation Department at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is now Vice President of Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals' Association, life member of the Hong Kong Translation Society, and member of the Mass Media Training Board, Vocational Training Council, Hong Kong.
Maurice Lin As Senior Account Director at Red Edge Communications, Maurice leads the creation of business-to-business marketing solutions for clients including BEA systems, Hewlett-Packard, Sony, Verizon Business and Stratus Technologies. He also manages retainer relationships and coordinates individual projects for client sales and marketing activities, particularly in online and interactive marketing. Before co-founding Red Edge Communications, Maurice was with Hill and Knowlton Asia, a leading international public relations consultancy, as a copywriter and account service team member. He served a wide range of technology and business-to-business clients, including Nokia, AST Computers, AMD, British Telecom, Microsoft and Motorola. Maurice was formerly a sub-editor for Asian Electronics Engineer, and a regular contributor to PC Home. He has written on technology for leading local newspapers including Apple Daily, Hong Kong Economic Times, and Ming Pao Daily News. Maurice holds a Master of Arts degree in cultural and literary studies from the University of Hong Kong.
Sally To Sally leads the public relations team at Red Edge Communications. With over 13 years in public relations and marketing communications, she brings to Red Edge a wealth of experience in corporate communications, technology and consumer marketing. At Red Edge, Sally provides strategic counsel and handles marketing programme planning for multinational clients including Avaya, China Light and Power, Coface Hong Kong and SAS Institute. Before joining Red Edge, Sally was group manager at PR leader Burson Marsteller in Hong Kong where her achievements included orchestrating a marketing campaign for Sun Microsystems that dramatically boosted its server business. She also handled PR for Mercedes Benz. As senior consultant for Hill and Knowlton PR, Sally effectively blended her technology and consumer marketing experience to serve clients that included Microsoft, handling the launches of Windows 95 and Chinese Windows 95. Earlier, as account manager at Grey Promotions, Sally worked closely with the advertising team at sister company Grey Advertising to launch a series of ATL/BTL marketing campaigns for a wide range of clients including SmarTone, NIKE, AIA, Kowloon Motor Bus and SmithKline Beecham. Sally began her career as a journalist at the Hong Kong Standard, where she focused on business and technology issues. Sally holds an MSc in International Marketing from the University of Strathclyde.
Gallup Lee Gallup is executive creative director of Red Edge. With over 20 years in advertising and marketing, Gallup brings to Red Edge a wealth of experience in all aspects of design and production, including graphic, 3D and web design. At Red Edge, Gallup leads the creative team, serving multinational clients that include British American Tobacco, BEA Systems, Hewlett Packard, PCCW and Stratus Technologies. He provides strategic marketing counsel on creative direction in all media. Prior to joining Red Edge, Gallup was creative director at Cheung Hung Advertising, spearheading marketing campaigns for Hong Kong Housing Authority on the Home Ownership Scheme and for Nam Fung Development in property promotion. Previously, as associate creative director for Tunda Advertising, Gallup was creative team head of the Wyeth and AIA Insurance accounts. He also has extensive experience as a core member of in-house design teams, including as senior art director at South China Morning Post and a designer with HSBC. Gallup holds a diploma degree in Graphic Communication from Hong Kong Polytechnic.
Martin Turner Martin leads the development of all English-language materials at Red Edge Communications, supported by a team of experienced, locally based writers and editors. He also manages a portfolio of clients and provides business and technology support across the group. Before joining Red Edge in 2000, Martin was a marketing consultant and writer for businesses in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, and taught information technology, writing skills and maths to corporate and individual clients. Martin previously delivered IT training programmes in Hong Kong and UK, to government and corporate clients and earlier established and managed the telesales operation of Computer Bookshops Ltd, Europe's largest distributor of technology books. He has written on materials science, technology, information technology, and the packaging industry, for trade journals, UK government and industry. Martin holds an Engineering degree from Cambridge University and an MBA from Durham University, both in the United Kingdom.
As Editorial Manager at Red Edge, Kitty oversees and executes Chinese editorial and translation projects and undertakes hands-on translation and copywriting. With over ten years of Chinese–English translation and Chinese copywriting experience, Kitty has recently handled the translation of annual reports for clients including Shanghai Industrial Holdings, Tom Group and Sa Sa Cosmetics, from English to Chinese and vice versa. She serves a number of long-term active clients in various sectors, including DHL, Reuters, BAT and Marco Polo Hotels, coordinating the translation and preparation of their corporate communications and marketing materials. She has also handled Chinese–English translation of the Macao Yearbook for four consecutive years. Before joining Red Edge, Kitty worked for the Ming Pao Group as a translator. Kitty holds a Masters of Arts degree in translation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. |
